Groupon London – Full Body Massage Review

Today I went to get my first ever full body massage after finding a great deal on Groupon for only £21. I’ve had massages before, just not a full body one so I was excited to be getting my first. I’ve also never purchased from Groupon before so this will be my full review of how everything went and whether or not I’d recommend it.

Booking & My Arrival

After purchasing my voucher I made a booking to have my massage 2 days later around 2pm. The masseuse was called Donna and she emailed me shortly after to push the time back by 15 minutes. The email was professional and as it wasn’t a problem for me, I agreed to do 2:15pm. After googling the address on the day, I saw that the location was in Camberwell Leisure Centre. I thought that it was going to be one of those gym spas but it wasn’t; Donna operated from a small room on the 3rd floor – totally independent from the gym itself. I arrived and wondered if it was a bad idea, only because of the setting. She was finishing up with a client so I had to wait outside, which resembled somewhat school corridors. Despite this, Donna was SUPER friendly and had such a warm approach that it made me feel at ease. Minutes later I filled out a form and was taken into the beauty room, which again in relation to school, looked like a small room set out with aromatherapy candles and products – it was lovely. Donna got me to choose the type of massage I wanted (deep tissue) and before you knew it, I was stripped and laying face down on the bed.

The Full Body Massage

One word – sensational. The ambience was beautiful and it felt like the perfect setting for me to relax and enjoy the massage. I almost fell asleep but heard that isn’t good so I managed to keep myself awake for an hour. Donna started off by doing my neck, back and shoulders. I told her I had tense shoulders and sometimes I get back pains so she made sure to apply appropriate pressure on these points (deep tissue massage – duh!). Did it hurt? I’d be lying if I said it didn’t, but at the same time it was necessary and I felt like those stubborn knots were being tackled. I could feel her going over the same ball points which did get less painful the more she massaged them away. I wasn’t one to watch the time but it felt like the back section lasted at least 30minutes.

After my neck, back on shoulders she moved onto my legs and feet, before finishing up with my arms and hands. I had to try very hard not to laugh because I am really ticklish under my feet so when she was giving them a rub I just wanted to LOL – literally! For me personally the calves section felt a bit awkward. Reason being is that I usually get muscle pulls in that area and have to massage it to make the pain go away. But because I’ve had so many muscle pulls, I can feel when I have one coming on – and that’s exactly what it felt like when she was massaging that area. I kept still and just thought to myself it must be normal (since i’ve never been massaged in that area before) and it was all fine, but not my favourite. The rest of my leg massage however – heaven!

Arms and hands – probably the best part of all. They do say save the best to last, and Donna certainly didn’t disappoint. I didn’t want it to end. I believe that everyone has that one spot of their body that they could have rubbed forever, and I’ve figured out that for me it’s my arms. I was like a dog getting it’s belly rubbed – all smiles. Before I knew it my massage was finished  😦 But a visit well worth it!

My Thoughts On My Masseuse – Donna

Donna was nothing short of amazing. As mentioned above, she made me feel at ease from the moment I met her. I asked for a glass of water and she went above and beyond to make sure I was happy before starting my massage. Having advertised on Groupon, I could tell that she was rushed off her feet in terms of having back to back clients, but not once did I feel like she rushed my treatment. In fact, it felt like it was longer than an hour! I was comfortable, respected and relaxed – and that’s exactly how a massage day should be.

Before leaving Donna handed me her card. She charges a full price of £40 for a full body massage which I think is such a good price. Her service definitely exceeds that so I will be making another booking really soon 🙂
