Our Top 5 Songs From ‘Empire’ Season 1

Finalllly some good music that we all love! Yay!! As season 1 of Empire comes to an end, we look back at some of the greatest songs sang in the Empire series.

empire

The number one show, which peaked at 16.7 million viewers in the US is what everyone is talking about right now. Kerry Washington step aside, it’s all about Taraji P. in Empire baby! If you don’t know then you need to get to know. Seriously where have you been? Here’s our top 5 tracks from the hit TV show.

1. Jussie Smollett – Good Enough

C’mon guys, this has to be the number 1 song from ‘Empire’. If you’ve watched the show then you’ll know that Jamal is gay and no matter how much he tries to impress his dad, his homosexuality always ends up being the centre of the conversation…to his dads disapproval of course. The message in this song is so inspiring and heart-felt; we absolutely love it and I’m sure you will too.

2. Veronika Bozeman – This Is Love

It’s less than a minute long yet this song is life. We only needed to hear a few words before we we’re hooked. It’s like listening to a really good interlude and wishing there was a full length version, but unfortunately the longest we could find was 90 seconds long, which you can purchase from iTunes. The singer Veronika Bozeman has now been signed to Timberland’s record label so hopefully we can expect a full track of ‘This is love’  sometime soon.

Update: Listen to the full song here

3. Yazz & Jussie Smollett – No Apologies

Every time Jamal (Jussie Smollett) and Hakeem (Yazz) get together they put on a hot performance, and this is no exception.

4. Jussie Smollett & Estelle – Conqueror

So you’re probably thinking Jussie Smollett again. What can we say? The guy makes great music. This time he’s teaming up with singer Estelle to give a performance with an inspirational message; that is, we are all conquerors. So next time you’re feeling down, just throw this song on and sing it from the top of the rooftops!

5. You’re So Beautiful

So there are like 3 different versions to this song; one that Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) sings to Cookie (Taraji P), one sung by Jamal when he came out as gay and then this version, where various artists of Empire come together to perform. Now what one you prefer will solely depend on your taste. I’m sure it won’t be hard to guess our favourite version (cough cough Jamal), but to give you guys a a bit of variety we thought it would be great to have you listen to this version. Let us know what you think.
